As you may recall, I'm the proud owner of a Buzz. What you may not know is that I wouldn't be caught dead pushing a Bugaboo. I'm simply not a Boo guy. I liken it to the pick-up driving population. Either you're Ford or you're Chevy. You're not both. And those Calvin stickers make it clear to the world which side you're on.
Hence, it shouldn't come as a big surprise that today I ordered a Zapp. Yes, I had to order it from Holland, but hey, the shipping is a small price to pay for having one of the only ones in town quality design. I've actually only ever seen one Zapp in SF and that was spotted down in Union Square. Tourists almost assuredly.
So imagine my horror when I came home to find the stroller at left in the trunk of my wife's car. No, not the Maclaren Quest Mod 2006. Damn, the wheels are scuffed - it's been used. We have to keep it! Oh the horror. The horror!
I canceled the Zapp order but am still in denial. To be honest, I've actually been in a pretty foul mood ever since I discovered this thing. I've made it clear that I will never, I repeat, NEVER, be the one who pushes the Maclaren. It simply does not compute. Quinny or Boo. Chevy or Ford. There's no third option.
It's not so much that the Quest is a bad ride (though I wouldn't know because I refuse to push it). Rather, the Mod's "mod" pattern is a joke. Living here in SF for some time I've gotten to know more than my share of real life Mods and I've never seen any of them break out a pattern like this. It seems more '80s than anything. It reminds me of that party scene in the first Crocodile Dundee movie where there's a woman's wearing an alphabet dress. (Look to the right of Ms. Kozlowski.) You know the one. And you know it sucks. Just like this stroller.
What can I say, I'm a Chevy Quinny guy.
UM....I know I'm one of 6 readers, but c'mon people! Post a comment!!!
And Buck, will you be back on this with regularity (and hilarity!) now that bun #2 is en route?
