Daddy Types provides another reason why I won't get TiVo. We all know that marketers target children, but this is ridiculous.
I recently heard somewhere that children are brand aware by age 4. I can't be the only one who finds this nauseating.

Oh -- mark my word, TiVo is in your future.
It beats those bloody Baby Einstein videos. They truly are horrid.
I agree that the TiVo in the hospital is a bit crazy but when you are breastfeeding at 4 am and all that's on is Elimidate (which I came to actually like), a good Tivoed show hits the spot.
Kids just shouldn't be watching TV at all before age 2, so say the experts. None of us want to do it...but ALL parents, good and bad, eventually succumb to the inevitable. Maybe for just enough time in order to prepare dinner, when you (or your child) are so sick and no one can help...or because it's been raining all day and you've exhausted all resources and books -- TiVo is a wonderful invention. I LOVE MY TiVo. I don't even like TV -- but I love that freaking TiVo.
Let me know when you eat your words.
Love,
Peggy, mom of Slade and Archer
PS I love that you are doing this. I'm very, very impressed.

I loved your comments on how kids get marketed. M will know my take on that. It makes me sick to think of it. Beware though, as new parents you are going to get marketed to DEATH, convincing you that you just must have so many things that you really don't need. On baby #3, I hardly bought anything. My advice; buy it on a as needed basis. About my only must have was a good comfortable baby carrier. M remember Nini on my back while teaching Art? (Ergo baby carrier)!
